In 1997, Blue Max Materials opened its doors on Westinghouse Boulevard and owner Mike Bishop began creating his dream: a place where customer service is paramount, where contractors and homeowners save money by purchasing high-quality landscape and construction materials in bulk, and where he educates customers by sharing his product knowledge.

Mike was committed to his ideals. He installed a certified scale to protect his customers. (“You see exactly what you’re paying for instead of guessing at the quantity.”) He worked with experts to develop topsoils suited for the Charlotte area. He retained experienced, professional dump truck drivers from sister company Blue Max Trucking for customer deliveries. He hired people committed to customer service and educated them to become experts.

Over the years, Blue Max Materials has expanded, adding a second facility in Indian Trail, additional employees, and extensive product lines. But the basics that attracted people to Blue Max in the first place are still the driving force behind the company: providing quality products at a fair price with exceptional customer service.
